KING5 Evening Magazine Does Feature On Godfrey Daniels

Our beloved Moisture Festival clown/puppet and 'face of the festival' Godfrey Daniels has been 'working his mute magic' on the KING5 Evening Magazine crew and he's working them like, 'he works an eight year old at a Saturday matinée'. He even got them asking rhetorical questions like, "is he a clown or a puppet, your decide"?. Something the festival producers and people attending Moisture Festival have been asking themselves for years. The real question we think should be,  is he a clown or a puppet with the power to control people's minds with those red balloons, and what in that big tank he got hidden in the dressing room?

The creator of 'Godfrey', Randy Minkler (who also spends his time putting together most of the Mositure Festival's variete' show line-ups) even came out of the puppet clown closet to reveal his real identity to the world in the TV segment. The rumor is it's because he's had a big crush on Jean Enersen for years and loves her in those 'KING 5 health-link' reports. Thank you KING5 Evening Magazine for finally exposing Godfrey's clown puppet 'pinko red ball child and adult mind control' gimmick for the whole world to see.

You can see Godfrey Daniels in the following Moisture Festival Shows at Hale's Palladium:

Welcome To Moisture Festival 2013!

Burlesque Host Madame X

Welcome to our 10th annual Moisture Festival – a celebration of comedy/varietè and burlesque.

Over the last nine years we have showcased over 1500 performers in 314 shows in eight different venues around Seattle. We had the pleasure of entertaining over 63,000 of you - our patrons. We also produced over a dozen benefit shows for many worthy community organizations.

Thank you for joining us as we celebrate this achievement. Much of the credit goes to you and all the other audience members who have made the festival performers feel at home and very much appreciated. This is the reason the best variety performers in the world are stopping by to be part of our shows!

We offer our eternal gratitude to the festival volunteers who have done so much to help us reach this 10-year milestone. The work they accomplish is phenomenal. Their dedication is inspiring. Together we have heavily invested in laughing stock and the returns just get better and better. While it is sometimes difficult to put a value on joy, laughter and amazement we are fortunate to have gathered sponsors and individual donors who understand the benefits. Seattle is a culturally rich city and we are proud to continue to be part of a community that supports the variety arts and art of all sizes and shapes.

We hope you will immerse yourselves in the many types of variety shows at Hale’s Palladium, come visit us on Capitol Hill at the Broadway Performance Hall for an adult evening of burlesque or a Sunday varietè matinée with the whole family. For a very unique festival evening, join us in lower Queen Anne at SIFF Cinema for our yearly collaboration with our pals at SIFF, presenting short silent films sprinkled with live varietè performances. To push our celebration to the limit, we will be presenting two very special events at Hale’s Palladium, held on Monday nights. On March 25, Miss Indigo Blue hosts an array of burlesque lovelies discussing this art forms unique and intriguing history and on April 1 the real Dr. Patch Adams will speak on humor and health.

The Moisture Festival has always understood the importance of giving back to the community that has given support to us over the years. During the first week of the festival we will be presenting two benefit matinées. Beneficiaries this year are 'Hands for a Bridge' (March 23) and 'Phinney Neighborhood Association' (March 24). In addition, we are taking a few performers on the road to entertain our veterans at the American Lake VA facility in South Tacoma.

It’s a thrill to report that the enthusiasm that launched our first festival in 2004 is very much alive and still providing the fuel for this 10-year celebration. Thank you for doing your part. Now let’s have some fun together at the 10th Annual Moisture Festival.

The 2013 Moisture Festival Producers: Ron W. Bailey, Maque daVis, Tim Furst,
Danny O'Brien, Rhonda Sable, Jennifer Wensrich

Moisture Festival Pioneer And 'King Of Bubbles' Tom Noddy Returns in 2013 To Celebrate Our 10th Year

Video created by Benjamin Packard

It's a special privilege for Moisture Festival to have Tom Noddy back for our 10th year. Tom Noddy has done something unique in show business ... he created a new kind of act.

When Tom first took his performance of Bubble Magic onto the Tonight Show in the early '80s (the first of 3 such performances on that show) Johnny Carson was able to say "He's doing something unlike anything we've ever seen." He used the attention gained by those appearances to initiate a series of "Bubble Festivals" at science centers across America and now in several European cities (he says that he knows a good bit about the physics of soap films but admits and he's funnier than he is smart).

This has resulted in work for him and now for several other entertainers who've followed in his footsteps. Tom is a regular on the European Varieté scene where he will spend much of 2013. But for now he's delighted to be gathering in Seattle with the collection of odd people who make up the peer group of a guy who blows bubbles for a living.

You can see Tom perform on the following dates:

March 30, 2013 @ 3:00pm and 10:30pm
March 31, 2013 @ 3:00pm and 7:30pm
April 3, 2013 @ 7:30pm
April 4, 2013 @ 7:30pm
April 7, 2013 @ 7:30pm

Maria Margiyeva was born in Kiev, Ukraine. At the age of 7 she began her career as an athlete of rhythmic gymnastics on the Club Dynamo of Kiev coached by Vera Kremer. A few years later Maria entered in the National Junior Team of the Soviet Union and after, when Ukraine became an independent country, Maria was the member of Junior Team of Ukraine. She did gymnastics for ten years and always with the same coach Vera Kremer. During this time Maria was a winner of many international and national competitions.

At the age of 16 she was booked by The Club Rhythmic of Barcelona. This club, with Maria, came in third in the Spanish Championship. Maria still now lives in Spain. Moisture Festival Year 10 Week One | A Fabulous Line-Up Of Comedy And Variete' Performers | Opening Night Gala | Unprecedented 'Burlesque Undressed' Panel | Benefit Shows | Much Much More!

It doesn't seem like yesterday, but close when we first set-up the circus tent in Fremont in 2004 and did a weekend of variété shows with some performer friends. Mike Hale from Hales Brewery was there to donate a keg of beer for us to sell. There was a dream that we all shared that we could bring comedy, variété and burlesques shows to the Northwest on a recurring basis. But it was not much more than a dream in the beginning. Little did we know that we'd be celebrating 10 years of Moisture Festival and that our Festival would be considered one of the most successful and one of the 'largest Comedy Variété and Burlesque Festivals in the world' today. Of course we wouldn't have 'pulled it off' as Producer Ron Bailey likes to say all the time had it not been for the kindness of strangers, marvelous benefactors, sponsors, donors, our magnificent volunteers and Mike and Kathleen Hale and Phil O'Brien at Hale's Brewery. Frankly, without all these people's support, patience and generosity it just wouldn't have happened. So we thank them again and again from the bottom of our hearts. Please tell them thank you when you see them.

Onward Then To Year 10 Week One!

The Moisture Festival talent bookers have worked hard over the Summer, Fall and Winter to make week one of the 2013 Moisture Festival a fantastic experience for our fans. They've booked some of the finest comedy and variete' and burlesque talents available anywhere. Internationally renowned performers will populate the stage at Hale's Palladium during our opening week, commencing with our Open Night Gala and after show party on Thursday March 21st, that will leave you laughing and amazed. Below is the list of week one's lineup. You can click on the performer's name below to find out more information about them and what show they are scheduled to perform in and how to get tickets.

Burlesque Undressed
'The Stories Behind The Glitter'
Monday March 25th, 7:30pm Hale's Palladium
The Moisture Festival is thrilled to partner with Miss Indigo Blue's Academy of Burlesque and BurlyCon to offer a titillating evening with local Burlesque luminaries! You've watched them peel away layers of clothing to entertain you, now comes the unique opportunity to be entertained from a totally different angle - their personal stories, live from their very own painted mouths! Immerse yourself in this rich history told by the performers who danced in the Northwest in days gone by, as well as those who currently grace our Seattle stages. Local Legends Velvet Ice and Eartha Quake are joined by Burlesque stalwarts Paula the Swedish Housewife, Tamara the Trapeze Lady and Miss Indigo Blue, to reveal a delightful narrative with tales of glamour, glory and the intrigue of burlesque. Stretch your arms and your imagination with the lovely Miss Inga Ingenue, aka as Miss Viva Las Vegas 2011 and Atomic Bombshells troupe member, as she treats you to an interactive tutorial on how to manipulate your very own feather boa - a skill we know you've wanted to add to your repertoire! Bring your own boa or you can buy one at the event. You can click on the performers names below to find out more information and for ticket links.

Moisture Festival's Donors And Sponsors Are Wined, Dined And Flying High

On Sunday, March 3rd we entertained out star donors and sponsors with an extraordinary day down in Georgetown.  We started the day at The Stables, a very unique and very awesome Georgetown venue.  With music by the Nu Klezmer Army, performances from Arne Bystrom and Bill Robison and a bottomless pasta and salad buffet, we warmed up our honored guests for their high flying debut.  Aboard the lovely red double decker Hale's bus, we made the five block trek over to the School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts (SANCA) and offered our guests a turn on their flying trapeze.  A huge amount of fun was had by all and here's the video to prove it.

They're Back...! Those Thigh-Slapping German Clowns Hacki And Moeppi Ginda | Our 10th Anniversary Wouldn't Be Complete Without Them!

Hacki and Moeppi giving each other a hand!
From Germany, the comedy and energy of this father and son clown duo have been a central part of the festival's original inspiration and a good bit of the imagery and cockeyed outlook that allowed us to believe that this impossible event was actually inevitable. Hacki has owned and operated Variete theaters in Berlin and Muenster and he and Moeppi have left them laughing all across Europe and around the world. After they are done in Seattle it will be off to Australia. They missed a couple of festivals here and there and now we're thrilled that they're back for 2013 our tenth anniversary year. It wouldn't be right without them! You can see them opening night and all during the festival on the following dates:
