Maria performing one of her many disciplines
Maria Margiyeva was born in Kiev, Ukraine. At the age of 7 she began her career as
an athlete of rhythmic gymnastics on the Club Dynamo of Kiev coached by
Vera Kremer. A few years later Maria entered in the National Junior
Team of the Soviet Union and after, when Ukraine became an independent
country, Maria was the member of Junior Team of Ukraine. She did
gymnastics for ten years and always with the same coach Vera Kremer.
During this time Maria was a winner of many international and national
competitions.
At the age of 16 she was booked by The Club Rhythmic of
Barcelona. This club, with Maria, came in third in the Spanish
Championship. Maria still now lives in Spain. At the end of her career
as an athlete she respectfully received the title of Master of Sport. At
the age of 17 Maria joined the National University of Physical
Education and Sport and also joined the National Academy of Dance By
Pavel Virskiy. Today Maria has a degree in Science of Physical Education
and also has the title of professional dancer and choreography.
In
Spain Maria studied flamenco dance. In 1999 Maria auditioned for Theatre
Bingo in Kiev directed by Iryna German and that day changed completely
the route of her life. Thanks to Iryna German Maria began her career in
show business. Since that time she has impressed audiences, booking
agents and her fellow performers with her many skills and her stage
presence as she has brought her show to hotels, theaters, circus, cruise
ships other venues across Europe, South America and the Middle East. We
have tried for a while now to bring her to Seattle audiences and the
Moisture Festival. This is the year and we are so so happy to have her amazing talent
here.

Moisture Festival | Breathtaking Aerial Artists 'Duo Rose' To Highlight Opening Week At Hale's and Libertease Burlesque Opening At Broadway Performance Hall
International Nikulin Youth Circus Festival Moscow, Russia.
It is always special when old friends return to the Moisture Festival, and Duo Rose are dear friends of the festival returning for our 10th year. This amazing duo has earned the praise and amazement of world and local fans with their stunning performances.
The first American circus artists to perform in Havana, Cuba. The passionate, romantic trapeze performance of Duo Rose combines unique dynamic elements with aerial contortion. The seamless flow of highly technical skills and intense passion creates a fluid aerial ballet that never fails to elicit a powerful emotional response. Samuel and Sylvia have worked together for five years to combine their backgrounds in aerial arts, gymnastics, and contortion to create this dynamic aerial adagio act. They developed their act independently without primary instruction from a circus school or dedicated trainer and have toured their act internationally in some of the top circuses and variety houses in Europe. In August 2010 they made history becoming the the first American circus artists to perform in Havana, Cuba since 1959. Officially sanctioned by the United States Government, they competed in the 9th International Circus Festival, CIRCUBA.

Moisture Festival Year 10 Week One | A Fabulous Line-Up Of Comedy And Variete' Performers | Opening Night Gala | Unprecedented 'Burlesque Undressed' Panel | Benefit Shows | Much Much More!
It doesn't seem like yesterday, but close when we first set-up the circus tent in Fremont in 2004 and did a weekend of variété shows with some performer friends. Mike Hale from Hales Brewery was there to donate a keg of beer for us to sell. There was a dream that we all shared that we could bring comedy, variété and burlesques shows to the Northwest on a recurring basis. But it was not much more than a dream in the beginning. Little did we know that we'd be celebrating 10 years of Moisture Festival and that our Festival would be considered one of the most successful and one of the 'largest Comedy Variété and Burlesque Festivals in the world' today. Of course we wouldn't have 'pulled it off' as Producer Ron Bailey likes to say all the time had it not been for the kindness of strangers, marvelous benefactors, sponsors, donors, our magnificent volunteers and Mike and Kathleen Hale and Phil O'Brien at Hale's Brewery. Frankly, without all these people's support, patience and generosity it just wouldn't have happened. So we thank them again and again from the bottom of our hearts. Please tell them thank you when you see them.
Onward Then To Year 10 Week One!

Burlesque Undressed
'The Stories Behind The Glitter'
Monday March 25th, 7:30pm Hale's Palladium
The Moisture Festival is thrilled to partner with Miss Indigo Blue's Academy of Burlesque and BurlyCon to offer a titillating evening with local Burlesque luminaries! You've watched them peel away layers of clothing to entertain you, now comes the unique opportunity to be entertained from a totally different angle - their personal stories, live from their very own painted mouths! Immerse yourself in this rich history told by the performers who danced in the Northwest in days gone by, as well as those who currently grace our Seattle stages. Local Legends Velvet Ice and Eartha Quake are joined by Burlesque stalwarts Paula the Swedish Housewife, Tamara the Trapeze Lady and Miss Indigo Blue, to reveal a delightful narrative with tales of glamour, glory and the intrigue of burlesque. Stretch your arms and your imagination with the lovely Miss Inga Ingenue, aka as Miss Viva Las Vegas 2011 and Atomic Bombshells troupe member, as she treats you to an interactive tutorial on how to manipulate your very own feather boa - a skill we know you've wanted to add to your repertoire! Bring your own boa or you can buy one at the event. You can click on the performers names below to find out more information and for ticket links.

Moisture Festival's Donors And Sponsors Are Wined, Dined And Flying High
On Sunday, March 3rd we entertained out star donors and sponsors
with an extraordinary day down in Georgetown.
We started the day at The Stables, a very
unique and very awesome Georgetown venue.
With music by the Nu Klezmer Army, performances from Arne Bystrom and
Bill Robison and a bottomless pasta and salad buffet, we warmed up our honored
guests for their high flying debut.
Aboard the lovely red double decker Hale's bus, we made the five block
trek over to the School of Acrobatics and New Circus Arts (SANCA)
and offered our guests a turn on their flying trapeze. A huge amount of fun was had by all and
here's the video to prove it.
