Must-See Holiday Shows

Naughty or nice (or naughty and nice!), here are some stocking stuffer tickets sure to please those on your list:

The annual British Panto has become a holiday tradition in Fremont full of raucous good fun.

For their tenth anniversary, the Fremont Players weave two classic fairy tales into one hilarious British Panto with original songs and music performed live by the Fremont Philharmonic.

Sleeping Beauty and the Pea delivers large colorful characters, men dressed as women, and women dressed as men. You'll be encouraged to boo at the villain, cheer for the hero, and applaud the Magical Cow!  As always, the Players promise enough jokes and innuendos will be fired over the kids' heads to keep everyone entertained.

The Panto runs twice a day on Saturdays and Sundays from December 15th though January 13th at Hale's Palladium.  Advance tickets recommended.

Land Of The Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker is a seasonal favorite featuring many of your favorite festival Burlesque performers and more.  Back at Seattle's illustrious Triple Door, Land of the Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker has delighted holiday revelers since 2006, giving the ballet a bawdy makeover!

This A-List cast of Seattle Burlesque superstars including Lily Verlaine, Miss Indigo Blue, Kitten La Rue, Waxie Moon, Babette La Fave, and Jasper McCann become the denizens of the exclusive after-hours party where Nutcracker characters unwind. Our principal dancers are joined by a Corps du Burlesque featuring Inga Ingénue, Polly Wood, Lou Henry Hoover, Holly Pop, and Aerial Suites. This power-house ensemble reveals the offstage lives of the staid characters of The Nutcracker as they shed their inhibitions…and their costumes!

Land of the Sweets from December 13th through December 22nd at the Triple Door.  Advance tickets recommended.

If your holiday elves are more in a mood for theatre, "the Granddaddy of all holiday shows” (Seattle PI) A Christmas Carol is playing at ACT (A Contemporary Theater) though December 30th.

This ripping good telling of the classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge, the curmudgeonly businessman who requires the intervention of a few spectral guides to understand the true meaning of Christmas and life continues to remind us what's really worth celebrating - at the holidays, or any time!

Also at Seattle celebrated Can Can cabaret you can catch the Can Can Castaway's Holiday Cabaret.  If tantalizing feats and naughty treats are on your Christmas list this is the show for you. A spectacle of holiday cabaret, comedy, burlesque and modern dance come together in this holiday treat.  A perfect holiday date night with the Can Can's delectable menu of food and entertainment.  Holiday cabaret runs December 14th, 21st, and 28th.

Finally, once the presents are unwrapped and the stockings unstuffed, put on that party hat and ring in the New Year with Moisture Festival at our New Year's Eve Extravaganza

Happy Holidays from our family to you and yours!

Commemorative tickets for 2013 festival events!  Our Brown Paper Tickets friends have gone above and beyond this year.  We are extremely moved and proud to participate in their new Artist Ticket program.  This is a great way to make your ticket go further to support a great cause.

One of two limited edition ticket designs
Brown Paper Tickets is proud to unveil the Artist Ticket program. The Artist Ticket program was developed as a way a way to donate additional funds to causes and charities that we feel passionate about.
The ticket buyers will have the option to receive an Artist Ticket for an additional charge.  The ticket buyer will then receive a limited edition collectable ticket imprinted with original artwork by a local artist. Additionally, the chosen charity will receive 100% of that additional charge.
For the launch of this program, we have chosen to donate to the lone survivor and families of the victims of a horrific tragedy that struck a chord for all of us in the artistic community here in Seattle.
On May 30, 2012, a lone gunman killed five people and wounded one in a shooting spree that began at the local Seattle artist refuge Cafe Racer. Some of the victims were important members of the local artistic community and now, six months after the shootings, there is still much healing that needs to be done.
In an effort to raise funds for the victims' families and the lone survivor, Brown Paper Tickets is offering up to 100,000 limited-edition Cafe Racer Artist Tickets imprinted with works of art donated by nationally recognized artists and Cafe Racer regulars Jim Woodring and Ellen Forney. Ticket buyers can pay an additional fee for an Artist Ticket, all of which will be donated to the Victims of the Cafe Racer Shooting Memorial Fund.

We hope to see you and yours at a 2013 festival show!

November 2nd - 4th – Eugene, OR – Lane Community College Theatre

November 9th – Medford, OR – Craterian Theatre

November 30th – December 9th – North Hollywood, CA – El Portal

Characterized by a calculated chaos of comedy, high-energy kung-faux fighting, and irreverent pop-culture parodies, NANDA has been performing original action packed theater based shows since 2004.  Also utilizing dance, juggling, and acrobatics, NANDA performances are a mishmash of traditional theater, vaudeville, circus and modern live entertainment innovation.

'The Jacket' is first independently produced full-length theater show by NANDA!!
Teeming with juggling, acrobatics and martial arts, “THE JACKET” combines comedy and irreverent pop-culture references for an entirely original performance. The show features a cutting edge cinematic soundtrack, as well as tightly integrated video projections and digital animations - all the while borrowing from circus, vaudeville, and classic western theater traditions. This panoply of stylistic influences is propelled by an epic story, replete with ancient mystics, kung-faux ninjas, robots, lasers, and a myriad of other action movie oddities.  The result is not only a show that is truly unique, but one that strongly resonates with all of the mainstream entertainment phenomena that it deftly parodies.

The four performing members of NANDA grew up together in Port Townsend, WA and within the supportive environment cultivated there, developed a vision of limitless creative expression free of predefined labels, which has become an ideal for an entirely new and unique idea of performance art.   Using this idea of “acrobaticalism” as a window to the world, NANDA has invented material gaining inspiration everywhere from cinema and pop-culture icons to rock music and even cartoons.

This explode-out-of-the-box mentality has inspired extensive explorations into a variety of other avenues, including live video projection, animation and sound.  Nearly every second of the action being performed is accompanied by a tightly integrated cinematic sound track making the show a visceral audio/visual blast.  This full sensory experience along with the high degree of physicality used to convey the action make NANDA shows accessible not only to audiences of virtually any age or background, but also of any language or nationality.
